Description
This easy to make simple syrup is infused with juicy strawberries and fresh basil. It’s perfect for drizzling on pancakes, swirling into smoothies and oatmeal, or mixing into cocktails!
- 2 Packages (16 ounces each) Driscoll’s Strawberries, trimmed
- 1 - 2 Cup sugar
- 10 - 15 Fresh basil leaves, torn

PLACE 2 packages (16 ounces each) strawberries into a juicer, blender, or food processor.

PROCESS until strawberries are liquified.

POUR 1 ½ cups strawberry juice into a large measuring cup.

ALLOW juice to rest until froth rises to the top.

SKIM OFF froth using a spoon.

TRANSFER strawberry juice to a saucepan.

ADD 2 cups sugar (or decrease sugar to 1 cup for a more liquefied syrup).

ADD 10 – 15 torn basil leaves.

BRING mixture to a boil over high heat and STIR occasionally.

REDUCE heat to low and SIMMER 5 minutes.

STRAIN and DISCARD basil leaves.

ALLOW syrup to cool to room temperature.

STORE in refrigerator until needed.

Pro tip: For a thinner syrup consistency, press the strawberry juice through a cheesecloth before transferring it to the saucepan.
